Attended IMCA Conference in Seattle this week where I met with several clients and prospects. While there were some quality RIA's in attendance, the majority of the crowd were from FC's from independent B/D's and wirehouses. The frustrating thing about this is lack of transparency and reporting into these channels.

Some notable conversations while there include the following...

  • Joel Javer of Sharky, Howes & Javer who are currently small clients.
  • Dinner with Michael and Kathleen Newton, Chris Mills and Deann Elmore of Kovack Advisors.
  • Brent Moore of Key Private Bank (in SLC)
  • Chris Bidwell of Morgan Stanley in Centerville, OH.
  • Glenn Parker of Wychick Investmetn Advisors who owns WHOSX and may be interested in other Wasatch funds.
  • Thomas Turner of The 401k Source in Boise, ID who uses WAIGX.
  • James Saling of Raymond James who will be adding WAIGX to platform (Ryan needs to call).
  • Josh Bratt of Morgan Stanley who is friends with Jeff Cardon.
  • Jim Phillips, a top producer of Morgan Stanley in SLC.
  • Greg from Ron Blue & Co - one of Ryan's largest clients in GA.
  • Bill Vasconcellos of UBS in Boise, ID - strong interest in Frontier and EM Select
  • Mark Meier in WI - great discussion of Frontier - will pass on to Brandon.
Spent much of Thurs and Friday with lead follow up from IMCA conference and clients/prospect questions related to the WAFMX conference call with Laura held on Thursday.

Good news from a few prospects this week regarding deals I've been working on:
  • Long-Term Solutions in San Francisco adding WAMVX to smaller client portfolios (was expecting $10+ million but now only allocating $2-3)
  • Coldstream continuing to allocate to WAFMX and want to do visit to our office next month.
  • FundX Investment Group in SF increasing allocation to WAIGX from $10 to $15 mil.
  • Rocky Mountain Wealth Management allocated approimatley $6 mil to WAIOX and WAFMX this week.
  • Schaefer Financial Management in Denver continues to add to FMLSX with another $1 mil this week.
Spent time in Soltis' office this afternoon to drop off some golf balls and to coordinate sponsorship of their clients conference this coming week.
